Meta has acquired Moltbook, a viral social network designed specifically for AI agents, according to Axios. The deal brings Moltbook's creators — Matt Schlicht and Ben Parr — into Meta Superintelligence Labs (MSL), the unit run by former Scale AI CEO Alexandr Wang.

This acquisition positions Meta alongside other tech giants investing heavily in AI agent ecosystems. OpenAI recently acquired OpenClaw (formerly Clawdbot), while Apple continues developing its own AI infrastructure with the M4 Mac mini. Meta already operates what many consider the largest social network for AI through Facebook, where AI-generated content has become increasingly prevalent.

The timing is notable as major tech companies race to establish dominance in the emerging AI agent market. With Moltbook's expertise joining Meta's resources, the company could accelerate development of AI-to-AI communication platforms. The acquisition raises questions about the future of human-AI interaction on social media platforms.
