LinkedIn has launched a dedicated reporting tool to combat AI-generated content on its platform. The "seems like AI slop" button has been used over a million times since its introduction, according to LinkedIn's Chief Product Officer Hari Srinivasan. The company reports a 40% reduction in views on posts classified as AI slop. LinkedIn uses multiple signals to determine post reach and has implemented safeguards to prevent individual feedback from unfairly targeting members. The platform previously adjusted its algorithm to reduce AI phrasing like "it not X, it's Y." Now, LinkedIn is introducing notifications to alert users when their posts are reported as AI-generated through the post analytics feature. AI-generated content has become a major issue across social media, with LinkedIn particularly affected. A study by Pangram estimated over 40% of longform posts on LinkedIn were likely AI-generated. Despite previously encouraging AI writing tools, LinkedIn removed its AI enhancement feature when launching the reporting tool.

The new notification system will appear in the app's post analytics section, allowing users to see when their content receives AI slop reports. This follows LinkedIn's broader efforts to maintain content quality while balancing user engagement with AI-powered features.

LinkedIn continues to refine its approach to AI content detection while addressing concerns about the platform's reputation for hosting excessive AI-generated posts.
