Apple is laying off dozens of employees across its Vision Pro, Siri, and AI teams, according to Bloomberg. The company is "largely shutting down" the Vision Pro team focused on gaming and trimming the team responsible for immersive video content. Approximately 100 employees from the Vision Products Group have been laid off, along with 100 people from Siri and software groups.

Vision Pro employees were told Apple is realigning its priorities based on customer usage patterns, suggesting immersive video hasn't performed as expected. Bloomberg reports that immersive videos can cost millions of dollars to produce and haven't been cost-effective due to low device adoption. Apple plans to reduce in-house video production and rely more on third-party 3D content.

On the Siri front, Apple is restructuring to prioritize AI features, creating new positions aligned with the shift to Siri AI. The company stated it is overhauling teams to "evolve" its business and improve customer experience, with affected employees able to apply for other roles internally.

Despite the cuts, Apple confirmed the Vision Pro and visionOS are not being discontinued. The company continues development on AI smart glasses expected in 2027, though those devices won't support 3D gaming or video.
