Bloober Team has officially announced *Layer of Fear 3*, teasing a 2026 release through a cryptic Valentine’s Day countdown. The horror studio revealed the sequel via a live-action trailer featuring an actor reciting lines from William Blake’s *The Sick Rose*, followed by a falling painting and an hourglass with red sand, accompanied by the tagline “The door won’t stay closed.” While no gameplay footage or release date was disclosed, the company confirmed the title will expand into a novel co-written by Marta Bijan, a renowned horror poet and vocalist, and a soundtrack compilation for *Layer of Fear*, *The Medium*, and *Cronos*.

This move aligns with Bloober’s recent success streak, including the critically acclaimed *Silent Hill 2* remake and *Cronos: The New Dawn*, which blends elements of *Dead Space* and *Control*. The developer also teased a Switch 2-exclusive version of *Layer of Fear 2* titled “The Final Masterpiece Edition,” further cementing its reputation for immersive, narrative-driven horror.

The announcement highlights Bloober’s strategy to diversify beyond games, leveraging its expertise in atmospheric storytelling. The original *Layers of Fear* (2016) remains a benchmark in psychological horror, praised for its surreal visuals and gripping plot. By integrating literature and music, the studio aims to deepen fan engagement across platforms.

This expansion underscores the enduring appeal of Bloober’s horror franchises, which thrive on innovative cross-media experimentation. With *Layer of Fear 3* poised to build on its predecessors’ legacy, the studio continues to redefine interactive storytelling in the gaming industry.
