Remedy Entertainment is taking Control in a bold new direction with Control Resonant, shifting from the original's confined spaces to an open-world action-RPG set in a corrupted New York City. The sequel introduces Dylan Faden, brother of protagonist Jesse Faden, who steps outside The Oldest House seven years after the Hiss broke containment, creating a living alien landscape that barely resembles Manhattan.

Combat transforms from shooting to melee-focused action, with Dylan wielding the Aberrant—a weapon that morphs into twin blades, gauntlets, scythes, and hammers. This chaotic combat style draws comparisons to Devil May Cry and Nier Automata, featuring extensive customization options. The RPG elements include skill trees and status effects that add strategic depth to the fast-paced encounters against the aggressive Hiss.

The sequel maintains Control's surreal aesthetic with Backrooms-esque environments that twist familiar New York locations into bizarre landscapes. Despite the shift to an open world and new protagonist, Remedy retains the series' signature storytelling approach. Dylan's journey to regain his humanity while searching for his sister creates a compelling narrative backbone that preserves the original's weirdness while charting new territory.
