Apple Wallet may soon support digital IDs in four additional states, expanding beyond the 14 where the feature is currently available. North Carolina has officially confirmed its participation, with the state's DMV planning to launch a mobile ID program in December. Initially, digital IDs will be available through the state's NC Wallet app, with support for Apple Wallet, Google Wallet, and Samsung Wallet expected early next year. Residents with valid driver's licenses or state IDs can set up mobile IDs at no extra cost. The DMV notes that TSA accepts these mobile IDs at over 250 airports, including Charlotte Douglas International Airport and Raleigh-Durham International Airport, and law enforcement treats them as valid identification.

Apple Wallet may also expand to Oklahoma, Utah, and Virginia, according to code spotted by Mac Rumors, though no timeline has been announced. Currently, Apple Wallet supports digital IDs in Arizona, Maryland, Colorado, Georgia, Ohio, Hawaii, California, Iowa, New Mexico, Montana, North Dakota, West Virginia, Illinois, Arkansas, and Puerto Rico.
