Apple has confirmed WWDC 2026 will run from June 8-12 at Apple Park, with iOS 27 as the centerpiece. The update is expected to focus on performance improvements rather than visual changes, similar to macOS Snow Leopard's stability-focused approach. Apple engineers are reportedly rewriting parts of the operating system to eliminate bugs and improve battery life.

A major highlight could be a Siri chatbot with an app-like interface to compete with ChatGPT. Apple is testing this internally under the codename "Campos" and has partnered with Google Gemini for AI foundation models. The update will also introduce side-by-side app multitasking, but only on the upcoming iPhone Fold launching later in 2026.

macOS 27 will drop support for Intel-based Macs, making it the first version to require Apple Silicon processors. Time Capsule backups will also lose compatibility. While primarily a software event, Apple might unveil new Mac mini and Mac Studio models with M5 Pro and M5 Max chips, offering 30% faster CPU performance and 50% better graphics than their M4 predecessors.
