Apple's next major operating system, macOS 27, is still months away but already generating significant buzz with rumors of major AI upgrades and design changes. The software is expected to debut at WWDC 2026 in June, with a developer beta followed by a public beta in July and a full release in September. This will be the first macOS version to drop support for Intel-based Macs, focusing exclusively on Apple silicon devices with the M1 chip and newer.

Among the most notable rumored features is a full-fledged Siri chatbot that would enable back-and-forth conversations similar to ChatGPT and Google Gemini. Apple may also finally deliver on personalized Siri features previewed at WWDC 2024, including capabilities like checking flight information and lunch reservations from Mail and Messages apps. The update is also expected to incorporate Google Gemini to power future Apple Intelligence features, though specific implementations remain unclear.

Perhaps most intriguing is Bloomberg's report that Apple is developing a touch-optimized macOS for a rumored late 2026 MacBook Pro with a touchscreen. The interface would feature contextual menus appearing around touched elements and enlarged controls for easier finger selection. Apple is also reportedly focusing heavily on stability improvements and bug fixes, drawing comparisons to the 2009 Snow Leopard release that prioritized performance over flashy new features.
