Oura unveiled its Ring 5 on Thursday with blood pressure monitoring and GLP-1 tracking tools, marking a significant shift toward preventive healthcare. The smart ring adds AI-driven health guidance and medical record integration to its existing sleep and fitness capabilities. These features push Oura deeper into clinical health territory previously dominated by smartphones and smartwatches.

The new ring is 40% smaller than its predecessor after engineers rebuilt the sensors, signal architecture, and internal hardware. Oura Health Records lets U.S. users import diagnosed conditions, medications, allergies, and lab results. Health Radar provides nighttime breathing analysis and blood pressure trend monitoring. Despite Apple Watch's limitations in native blood pressure tracking, Oura's approach offers continuous monitoring through ring wear.

A partnership with Counsel Health enables users in 43 states to ask health questions and connect with licensed providers directly in the app. GLP-1 tracking tools log doses, side effects, and body changes for users on weight loss medications. Live workout tracking now supports real-time pace, distance, and heart rate through connected devices.

Pre-orders begin May 28 with shipments starting June 4. The ring starts at $399 with a $5.99 monthly subscription or $69.99 annually. A portable charging case sells separately for $99 and provides roughly one month of reserve power.
