The Oura Ring 5 launches with a dramatic redesign that reduces the smart ring's size by 40 percent compared to the Ring 4. Most smart rings feel bulky on the finger, but Oura claims this reduction maintains full functionality. Every component got redesigned to be smaller and more power-efficient, with signal pathways dropping from 18 to 12 while upgrading the LED and photodetector system for better accuracy across different skin tones.

VP of Product Jason Russell said user feedback drove the changes. The ring now ships in sizes 6 through 13 instead of the previous 4 through 15, though Oura will keep the Ring 4 available for those needing extreme sizes. New finish options include Stealth, Brushed Silver, and updated Gold and Rose Gold variants, with improved scratch resistance through a vapor deposition process.

Beyond hardware, Oura introduces Health Radar to monitor blood pressure and breathing patterns, plus GLP-1 Insights for medication tracking and bloodwork upload capabilities. The company also partnered with Counsel Health to offer AI-powered medical advice and live chat access to healthcare professionals in 43 states, though these features lack clinical validation.

Pre-orders start at $399 for Silver and Black finishes, with premium colors at $499. A $99 charging case provides portable power for up to a month. Shipments begin June 6. The redesign addresses the most common complaint about smart rings while maintaining Oura's position as the market leader in wearable health tracking.
