OLED MacBook Pro Production Report

A new rumor suggests Samsung Display has already begun mass production of 8.6-generation OLED screens for a future MacBook Pro. This timeline is earlier than previous industry predictions, which pointed to a late 2026 release. The leak comes from leaker yeux1122, who claims production started ahead of the originally scheduled second-quarter 2026 debut.

Apple has long been expected to transition its MacBook Pro line to OLED, following its use in the M5 iPad Pro. The technology offers richer colors and deeper blacks, providing a compelling upgrade reason for users holding onto older models. An exclusive deal between Apple and Samsung for this display generation has been previously reported, aligning with this leak.

The report also raises the possibility of a touch-screen MacBook Pro, as the displays could be configured with On-Cell Touch AMOLED technology. This could lead to a redesigned, smaller notch, resembling a pin-hole. While the leaker's track record is mixed, the timing aligns with known OLED production schedules, suggesting a potential launch sooner than 2026.
