Apple is enhancing Genmoji in iOS 27 and iPadOS 27 by creating suggestions based on phrases users type and their Photos. This move aims to boost adoption of the feature that has struggled to gain traction since its 2024 introduction. Users will receive more options to include Genmoji in Messages, similar to existing emoji suggestions.

The updated system will mash up commonly-typed phrases with users' Photos to produce ready-to-use Genmoji options. A toggle will be available to disable the feature for those who prefer not to use it. This approach represents Apple's strategy to make Apple Intelligence features more accessible by integrating them into daily workflows.

The enhancements join other Genmoji improvements from iOS 26, including custom expressions, physical traits like hair and glasses, and higher-quality AI-generated images. These updates will likely be demonstrated at WWDC 2026 in June, where Apple typically showcases its upcoming software features.
