iOS 27 Shakes Up Messages with AI‑Driven Tweaks and Speed Boosts

Apple focused on polishing rather than piling on new gadgets in its latest iOS 27 release. At WWDC, the company said its strategy centers on refining existing tools, with the Messages app receiving the most visible treatment. The update promises deeper integration, smarter suggestions, and smoother performance across the ecosystem.

Apple Intelligence now brings context‑aware prompts straight into chat threads. When a contact asks for photos, the app scans the conversation for names, places or keywords and offers a library search that can surface matching images. It also flags when a note or reminder would fit and presents a one‑tap shortcut, keeping the flow uninterrupted.

Beyond AI, iOS 27 tackles performance pain points. Large, historic chats scroll faster, and read states, reactions, and attachments sync more reliably across iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, and Vision Pro. Offloaded media now appear with preview thumbnails, and search can pull in photos stored only in iCloud, making older content easier to locate.

Drawings and media handling also improve: users can sketch directly inside a thread, and newly captured photos appear faster in the picker. Failed messages automatically retry, while multiple tapbacks merge into a single alert, reducing noise. Early adopters will test a public beta next month; Apple plans a fall release for all users.
