Samsung's Free Voicemail Saves You Money

Samsung is saving Galaxy phone users up to $5 per line monthly through Direct Voicemail, a feature that uses Galaxy AI to answer and transcribe calls. While carriers typically charge $3-5 per month for standard Visual Voicemail, Samsung's alternative processes everything on-device, avoiding carrier fees entirely. This translates to potential savings of $30-40 monthly for family plans.

The feature answers incoming calls with an automated voice, provides real-time transcriptions, and allows users to intervene and answer anytime. All processing happens locally on the phone, maintaining privacy and eliminating the need for carrier voicemail systems. Users can also access noise reduction technology to improve voicemail clarity.

Direct Voicemail has limitations - it requires an active phone connection and doesn't work during active calls or with video calls. Enabling the feature requires opening the Phone app, accessing settings, and toggling Direct Voicemail on. For full functionality, users should also enable "Auto transcribe recorded calls" in the Transcript Assist settings.
