Samsung has begun rolling out its seventh One UI 8.5 beta update for the Galaxy S25 series in South Korea, India, and Germany. The update, which weighs in at nearly 1GB, addresses multiple bugs including a calling issue where the proximity sensor would malfunction and unexpectedly turn voice calls into video calls. Samsung is still ironing out kinks before the stable release.

Other fixes in this beta include resolving color palette problems with Google Mobile Services apps in the work/security folder, Gallery app crashes when launching new projects, and stuttering in Samsung Messages' unread messages box. The company is also tackling issues like Gmail search input visibility in dark mode, exporting photos from private albums, and DeX connection pop-up problems.

While the Galaxy S25 series undergoes beta testing, the newer Galaxy S26 series has already received its first post-launch update focused on security improvements. Interestingly, that update removed the "Hey Plex" wake-up phrase, though Perplexity CEO Aravind Srinivas confirmed it will return as "Hey Perplexity." Meanwhile, Galaxy S26 Ultra pre-orders are reportedly up 25% in the U.S., with the Ultra model accounting for 80% of sales.
