Google Wiping Nest and Fitbit Forums in May Redesign

Google is overhauling its Google Home & Nest Community and Fitbit forums next month, but there's a significant catch: all existing posts will be wiped. The redesign promises a faster, cleaner interface with better categories and easier navigation for troubleshooting. A new dedicated discussion section for Gemini for Home is being added, hinting at heavier AI integration going forward.

In a blog post, Google calls this change "a foundational shift." The company notes that the Fitbit forum existed before Google bought the company, while the Nest board still uses the old Stadia platform. Both communities will get a modern design with "lightning-fast" performance and organized discussions to help users get answers faster.

The data wipe affects each community differently. Fitbit users must create entirely new accounts, losing all badges and profile data. Home & Nest users probably won't need new logins, but all post history disappears. Google advises users to screenshot or save any important threads before the May launch, as old posts become inaccessible once the new experience launches.
