Galaxy Z Flip 8 Rumored to Shed Weight and Hide Crease

Samsung's upcoming Galaxy Z Flip 8 may finally address two longstanding foldable frustrations: weight and that distracting screen crease. According to tipster Lanzuk, the next-gen clamshell could be roughly eight grams lighter than its predecessor while featuring a "crease-free design structure" enabled by an entirely new hinge mechanism.

The rumored display improvements could make the Galaxy Z Flip 8 more appealing to mainstream users who've been put off by previous generations' bulk and visible folding lines. Samsung's ultra-thin glass technology would likely play a supporting role in minimizing the crease effect. These changes represent a meaningful upgrade path for the series.

However, other anticipated improvements appear less exciting. Rumors suggest Samsung won't upgrade the battery capacity beyond the existing 4,300mAh cell, nor will the camera system see major enhancements. The device is expected to maintain similar display sizes with a 6.9-inch main screen and 4.1-inch cover display.

Samsung likely hopes these targeted refinements will help the Galaxy Z Flip 8 stand out when it launches alongside the Fold 8 later this summer, though the lack of substantial hardware upgrades may disappoint power users seeking more dramatic evolution.
