Galaxy S26's hidden strobing light filter protects your eyes at night

Samsung's Galaxy S26 includes a hidden feature that automatically dims strobing lights on screen, making nighttime scrolling more comfortable. The 'dim strobing' setting activates when the phone detects rapid light flashes in videos or games, reducing eye strain during scenes that would otherwise cause discomfort.

While not marketed as an epilepsy prevention tool, the feature offers significant comfort improvements. However, Samsung's implementation has limitations - it only works in select apps like YouTube, with Instagram, TikTok, and streaming services showing no dimming effect during strobing sequences. The feature also doesn't address the phone's low-frequency PWM dimming, which affects users sensitive to screen flicker.

For Galaxy S26 users bothered by bright displays, Samsung offers additional accessibility options. The enhanced 'Extra Dim' feature now includes a customizable strength slider, allowing users to reduce peak brightness by up to 80% without affecting PWM cycles. Combined with 'Privacy Display,' which can further reduce brightness by 74%, these settings create a much more comfortable viewing experience for nighttime use.
