Things 3.23 Adds Flexible Repeating To-Dos

Things 3.23 introduces major improvements to repeating to-dos, addressing two common scenarios: completing tasks early and rescheduling when plans change. Repeating to-dos now feature ordinary checkboxes, allowing users to mark one complete ahead of schedule and automatically generate the next copy based on the existing recurrence rule.

When rescheduling, users can choose between "Make Exception" for a single instance or "Update Rule" to shift the entire series. Tasks set to repeat after completion simply move to the new date without additional options.

The update also includes a dedicated "Repeating" search list, a "Create Next Copy" command, grey repeat icons for generated copies, and a refreshed setup dialog with an improved date picker. Users can now pause, resume, or stop multiple repeating to-dos simultaneously.

Cultured Code has unified the display and editing codebase across Mac and iOS. The free update is available on the App Store for Mac, iPhone, iPad, and Apple Vision Pro, requiring macOS 13.3, iOS/iPadOS 16.4, watchOS 9.1, or visionOS 26.
