macOS 26.4 Beta 4: Safari Tabs, Battery Charge Limits Return

Apple has released macOS 26.4 developer beta 4, bringing back several features that users have been waiting for. The update includes the return of Safari's compact tab view, which Apple removed last year with the release of macOS 26. This change follows three previous beta versions that hinted at its return.

Another significant fix addresses the window resize pointer bug that had plagued users since macOS 26.3. Apple had previously marked this issue as resolved before reclassifying it as a known problem. The update also introduces Charge Limit, a third-party feature now available natively, allowing users to set maximum battery charge levels between 80% and 100% to extend battery health.

Additionally, macOS 26.4 will begin warning users when opening apps that rely on Rosetta, as Apple continues its transition away from Rosetta 2 in preparation for macOS 27. The beta is available to developers through the Software Update system, with the release build numbered 25E5233c. These changes suggest Apple is focusing on refining existing features and improving user experience before the next major macOS release.
