MacBook Neo and Intel Macs Excluded from Studio Display Support

Apple's new Studio Display and Studio Display XDR are now available for pre-order, but MacBook Neo and Intel Mac users may face compatibility issues. According to Apple's technical specifications pages, neither the MacBook Neo nor any Intel Macs appear on the supported device lists for these displays.

Apple silicon Macs with macOS Tahoe 26.3.1 or later are supported, including recent MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, Mac Studio, Mac mini, Mac Pro, and 24-inch iMac models. iPad users with iPadOS 26.3.1 or later can also connect compatible iPad Pro and iPad Air models. The exclusion of Intel Macs appears intentional, while the MacBook Neo omission may be due to timing.

This compatibility limitation creates a significant problem for potential buyers considering both a MacBook Neo and a Studio Display. Those purchasing both products today might find themselves disappointed when they discover the devices won't work together. The timing of the announcement suggests Apple may update the tech spec pages to include the MacBook Neo, but for now, Intel Mac and MacBook Neo users should look elsewhere for display options.
