Riot Games has delayed the addition of team voice chat to League of Legends, just two weeks after announcing it would arrive in select regions with October's 26.20 patch. The dev team posted on social media that the feature is pushed "to meet the quality bar" the community deserves, with no new target patch.

Players have waited 17 years for the option. The studio gave no reason for the delay. Speculation points to moderation issues in a game famed for toxic behavior, or problems with the "voice skin" concept that lets players change how they sound.

The reversal is disappointing, but Riot says it's making voice chat a priority to get right.
