MacBook Neo External Display: 4K Single Monitor Only

Apple's MacBook Neo supports a single 4K external display at 60Hz through its left USB-C port, matching the display capabilities of early Apple Silicon MacBooks. The $599 laptop uses a USB-C port with DisplayPort over USB-C alt mode, limiting it to one external monitor while maintaining its built-in 13-inch Liquid Retina display.

This single-display limitation stems from the A18 Pro chip inside, which prioritizes efficiency over multi-monitor support. The chip's mobile-class architecture lacks the display controllers found in higher-tier M-series processors, similar to how the original M1 MacBook Air handled external displays. The internal display offers 2408 by 1506 pixels resolution with up to 500 nits of brightness.

The display constraints position the MacBook Neo as Apple's entry-level macOS machine, targeting students and everyday users who typically work with one monitor. Users requiring multiple displays for development or video editing will need to step up to MacBook Air or MacBook Pro models with M-series chips, which offer Thunderbolt connectivity and support for several high-resolution monitors simultaneously.
