Apple’s latest iOS 27 update expands Wallet’s scope, letting users import physical passes, loyalty cards and event tickets directly into the app. The move turns the iPhone and Apple Watch into a single, digital wallet that replaces paper cards and key fobs. Users no longer need to rummage through pockets or bags to find a ticket.

To add a pass, users point the Camera app’s Siri mode at a barcode or screenshot a digital code. The system then prompts a quick save to Wallet, where the pass appears as a scannable barcode or QR code ready for use on the device. This feature eliminates the mental load of remembering extra cards.

Apple’s decision follows a growing industry trend toward digital ticketing, yet many venues still issue paper passes. By allowing physical cards to be digitized, iOS 27 closes a gap that has frustrated frequent travelers and event-goers. The change also strengthens Wallet’s position as a unified key, reducing reliance on multiple apps.

Consumers will appreciate the streamlined experience, while businesses may need to update systems to support barcode scanning. Apple’s rollout of this feature signals a broader push toward a fully digital lifestyle, cementing Wallet as the central hub for credentials and tickets.
