iOS 27 Adds Physical Pass Import to Apple Wallet

iOS 27 adds a long-requested feature to Apple Wallet: the ability to import physical passes, membership cards, and event tickets. This moves the app closer to replacing physical wallets entirely, as it already holds credit cards, driver's licenses, transit cards, boarding passes, and various keys.

The import process uses Siri mode in the Camera app. Users simply point their iPhone at any physical card with a barcode or screenshot a digital one, then save it to Wallet. Passes can also be created directly within the Wallet app. Once stored, they appear as barcodes or QR codes ready to present from iPhone or Apple Watch.

Digital passes are common today, but many businesses and events still rely on physical versions. The author notes this creates anxiety about remembering to bring them. With iOS 27, everything can live in the always-accessible Wallet app, eliminating that mental burden.
