Blackmagic Design officially revealed the URSA Cine Immersive 100G camera, the first cinema model built specifically for live production of Apple Immersive Video. This hardware directly powered the recent live NBA broadcasts offered to Vision Pro users, signaling a serious push for real-time spatial content. The device promises to dramatically elevate the live event potential for Apple's headset.

This new camera packs dual 8Kx8K RGBW sensors, delivering 16 stops of dynamic range. To handle the immense data load of live immersive capture, it relies on 100G Ethernet for transmission. Blackmagic is pairing this with the URSA Live Encoder module, which compresses the streams into ProRes for output as SMPTE-2110-22 IP video.

Grant Petty, CEO of Blackmagic Design, framed this as the arrival of “live immersive production.” The ability to stream high-fidelity, stereoscopic 180-degree footage live transforms how sports and concerts can be experienced remotely. Consumers expecting more live content on the Vision Pro now have a concrete hardware foundation to support it.

The URSA Cine Immersive 100G is slated for availability in the third quarter of this year, carrying a sticker price of $26,495. This high-end professional tool confirms Apple's commitment to making Immersive Video a format viable for major live broadcasting events, not just pre-recorded features.
