Apple plans to launch its first AI-powered smart glasses in 2027, integrating Visual Intelligence and Siri into a camera-based wearable without displays. The glasses will use cameras to let Siri analyze the user's environment, answer questions, provide context, and translate signage. They will also function as open-ear headphones for audio playback. Bloomberg's Mark Gurman reports Apple may restrict photo and video capture to avoid privacy concerns seen with Meta's Ray-Ban glasses.

Unlike Meta's partnership approach, Apple is designing the frames in-house with multiple styles: large rectangular frames resembling Ray-Ban Wayfarers, a slimmer rectangular design similar to those worn by CEO Tim Cook, larger oval or circular frames, and a smaller refined oval option. Frames will use durable acetate in black, ocean blue, and light brown finishes.

Future iterations may add health features like heart-rate monitors, similar to AirPods Pro 3, and software such as Workout Buddy from Apple Watch. However, health capabilities are not expected in the first generation.

Apple will reportedly unveil the glasses at WWDC 2027 for developer preparation, with a September launch alongside the 20th anniversary all-glass iPhone.
