Former Michigan football coach Sherrone Moore has pleaded no contest to two misdemeanor charges in a case that emerged after his December firing for an inappropriate relationship with his executive assistant. The plea deal came on the same day a judge was set to hear a challenge to Moore's December arrest on three charges, including felony home invasion.

Those felony charges were dropped in exchange for Moore admitting to misdemeanor trespassing and malicious use of a telecom device. The case stemmed from an incident where Moore confronted his former lover, blamed her for his dismissal, and threatened self-harm with butter knives in her apartment. Sentencing is scheduled for April 14, with potential penalties of up to six months and 30 days in prison.

Moore's attorney, Ellen Michaels, stated that the dismissed felony charges 'were not supported by facts and law,' claiming the investigation was flawed from the start. The University of Michigan fired Moore on December 10 after two seasons as Jim Harbaugh's successor. The university cited an inappropriate relationship with a staff member, while prosecutors said the woman ended the affair days before Moore's firing and cooperated with the school's investigation.
