Former Michigan football head coach Sherrone Moore secured an evidentiary hearing for March 2 to challenge his arrest following his December firing. A judge granted Moore's motion after his attorney argued that detectives failed to disclose the alleged victim's working relationship with Moore within the Michigan football program when seeking probable cause for arrest.

Moore's attorney Ellen Michaels contends that this omission created a one-sided picture used to justify the arrest. The former coach faces charges of third-degree home invasion, stalking, and breaking and entering after allegedly entering the woman's home and taking butter knives and kitchen scissors following his termination. Prosecutors cite threatening messages including "I hate you" and "My blood is on your hands" as evidence supporting the stalking charge.

Moore had been promoted to head coach after serving as offensive coordinator under Jim Harbaugh, leading the team for two seasons before his firing for cause over an inappropriate relationship with a staff member. The university received an October tip about the relationship, which officials initially denied before the woman came forward in December. Michigan has since hired Kyle Whittingham as Moore's replacement.
