Zachary Rogers, the estranged husband of slain Lexington police officer Kaitlin Crook, has died months after a domestic shooting that also killed Crook and injured another man. The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation confirmed Rogers' death Saturday, bringing a tragic conclusion to the December incident that shook the Thomasville community.

Crook, an off-duty Lexington police officer, was shot and killed on December 17 in what authorities described as a domestic situation. Rogers, a Lexington firefighter, and Joshua Moore of Thomasville were also wounded in the incident. Moore, believed to be Crook's current boyfriend, was treated and released from the hospital, while Rogers remained hospitalized in critical condition before being moved to rehabilitation.

Investigators recovered handguns from both Rogers and Moore at the scene. The SBI investigation remains ongoing, with agents preparing to turn the case over to the district attorney to determine whether charges will be filed. The deaths of both Rogers and Crook leave the case with significant legal and personal consequences for all involved families.
