Sphere Entertainment Co, the firm behind the Las Vegas Sphere, is preparing to build a smaller-scale venue at Maryland's National Harbor. This marks the company's second U.S. location as it pushes its immersive entertainment model beyond the Nevada desert. The project has an agreement in principle with Maryland, Prince George's County, and developer Peterson Companies.

The proposed venue would feature around 6,000 seats, a significant reduction from the 17,500-seat flagship in Las Vegas. It will include the same core technology: a massive exterior LED display, ultra-high-resolution interior screens, and advanced sound systems. CEO James Dolan views this as part of a strategy to create a global network of Spheres in different sizes.

The project is seeking about $200 million in combined public and private incentives. Sphere Entertainment estimates it could generate over $1 billion annually in economic impact for the region. However, final agreements, financing, and government approvals are still needed before construction can begin on the Washington, D.C.-adjacent hub.
