Bevan French starred as Wigan Warriors defeated St Helens 38-16 in a Super League clash, intensifying St Helens' disarray.

Wigan's tries came from French, Zach Eckersley (two), Oliver Partington (two), and Adam Keighran, with Keighran converting all six and adding a penalty. St Helens responded with tries from Jack Welsby, Jacob Douglas, and Lewis Murphy, converted by Tui Lolohea. French was instrumental, scoring one try and assisting four others, including two for Eckersley before halftime and two for Partington in the second half. St Helens, reeling from the shock departure of head coach Paul Rowley on Thursday, had started brightly but a potential equalizing try was disallowed at the end of the first half.

The victory leaves St Helens outside the Super League's top six play-off positions. Despite the loss, interim coach Eamon O'Carroll expressed pride in his team's effort, while Wigan's Matt Peet acknowledged areas for improvement despite securing a crucial win against their rivals.
