Welsh rugby faces a pivotal extraordinary general meeting at the Principality Stadium on Monday evening, with the future of the sport in Wales hanging in the balance. The Central Glamorgan Rugby Union initially called the EGM with three motions targeting WRU chair Collier-Keywood and Professional Rugby Board chair Malcolm Wall, including a vote of no-confidence.

Both executives have since announced their departures, with Marianne Okland taking over Wall's role on an interim basis. The CGRU has requested to withdraw its motions, but the WRU insists the meeting must proceed due to legal obligations. Clubs must now decide whether to consent to dropping the resolutions or proceed with voting.

The most contentious issue remains the WRU's plan to reduce professional teams from four to three by June 2027. After briefly considering two teams, the governing body settled on three regional sides. The proposed Cardiff takeover by Ospreys owners Y11 Sport & Media has sparked protests and legal challenges from Swansea Council, complicating the restructuring process.
