Iga Swiatek secured her first WTA title of the season with a straight-set victory over Elena Rybakina in the Canadian Open final in Toronto. The six-time Grand Slam winner beat the world number two 6-2 6-3, breaking Rybakina's serve twice while saving two break points of her own. Swiatek, 25, clinched her 26th career title in one hour and 15 minutes.

Swiatek, who will return to the top five in the rankings, described the win as deeply meaningful after a challenging period. She advanced to the Australian Open quarter-finals but was eliminated by Rybakina, then exited early at the French Open and Wimbledon. The Polish player appointed Spaniard Francisco Roig to her coaching team in April and emphasized the difficulty of dealing with external criticism while searching for form.

In the men's final, fifth seed Ben Shelton defended his Canadian Open title with a 6-3 7-6 (7-4) win over fellow American Brandon Nakashima. The all-American final was the first at ATP Masters 1,000 level since 2003. Shelton became the first winner since Novak Djokovic in 2016 to claim the tournament without dropping a set, and the first player since Rafael Nadal in 2019 to successfully defend the title.
