Rachel Entrekin shattered the Cocodona 250 ultramarathon record, becoming the first woman to win the overall event in 56 hours, 9 minutes, and 48 seconds. The American runner conquered the 250-mile Arizona course through strategic fueling with mashed potatoes and minimal sleep—just 19 minutes spread across five-minute and seven-minute naps during the grueling race.

Her non-traditional training approach emphasizes mental toughness as much as physical fitness. The physiotherapist-turned-professional runner covers 70-80 miles weekly in Colorado without coaching plans or mileage tracking. A six-person support team, including her parents, guided her through 38,800 feet of climbing across the Sonoran Desert, Sedona, and Flagstaff.

Entrekin dramatically improved from her 2024 victory, slashing over 7.5 hours from her previous time of 63:50:55. After feeling unsatisfied with her mindset following last year's win, she set a goal to become "a person that I could stand behind" at the finish line. Now she plans to rest before tackling France's Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc.
