Wales secured double gold on the opening two nights of the Commonwealth Games cycling events at the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome. Emma Finucane won her second gold medal in two nights, dominating the team sprint and individual sprint, becoming the first Welsh woman to achieve this feat since Kirsty Wade in 1986. Finucane set a new Games record in qualification and went on to defeat reigning champions.

Anna Morris claimed gold in the 4,000m individual pursuit, beating Great Britain teammate Josie Knight. Morris, a trained doctor, has rapidly ascended in the cycling world, becoming a double world champion before her Commonwealth gold. Her day continued with a silver in the scratch race, though she was later demoted to fifth place for a lane infringement.

With Finucane and Morris leading the charge, Wales has amassed six medals, including three golds, in the initial two nights of competition. Both cyclists are expected to contend for further podium finishes in the upcoming events.
