Team Wales returned from the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow with 31 medals, including nine gold, 10 silver and 12 bronze, finishing ninth overall. The delegation's performance marked their joint-third highest tally in Games history, surpassing their 2022 Birmingham showing despite fewer sports and events.

Cycling emerged as the standout discipline with 11 medals, led by sprint cyclist Emma Finucane who became the first track cyclist and Welsh athlete to win four golds in four consecutive days across the team sprint, individual sprint, keirin and 1,000m time trial. Fellow cyclists Anna Morris, Jess Roberts, Rhian Edmunds and Ciara Oliva also contributed to the medal haul.

Para-athletes played a crucial role with 10 medals, including victories from Olivia Breen who briefly became Wales' most successful female Commonwealth Games athlete before being overtaken by Finucane. Matt Richards made history as the first Welsh swimmer to claim four medals in a single Games.

Despite strong performances, some near misses included fourth-place finishes in athletics and no boxing golds for the first time since 2014. The next Commonwealth Games will take place in Ahmedabad, India in 2030.
