Former India stars Rahul Dravid and Ravichandran Ashwin are among the latest investors to acquire a franchise in the European T20 Premier League. The 39-year-old Ashwin, who retired from international cricket in December 2024, had been set to play in Australia's Big Bash League for Sydney Thunder before a knee injury derailed those plans.

Dravid's connection to Scottish cricket runs deep - he played for Scotland as an overseas professional in 2003 during their participation in English county cricket competitions. The 53-year-old former India captain scored 600 runs in 11 games for Scotland, including three centuries. He most recently served as India's men's team head coach from 2021 to 2024.

The ETPL, run in collaboration with cricket boards of Ireland, Scotland and Netherlands, has sold franchises for £11.1m ($15m) over 10 years. Teams will have salary budgets of £1.1m ($1.5m) per season. The inaugural tournament runs from August 26 to September 20, though it clashes with England's Test series against Pakistan, ruling out multi-format players like Harry Brook and Jofra Archer.
