Republic of Ireland striker Troy Parrott has completed his move from AZ Alkmaar to Real Betis, signing a five-year contract. The transfer, valued at 20 million euros (£17.1 million), was confirmed by both clubs on Thursday. West Ham had previously been linked with the 24-year-old forward, who started his career at Tottenham before joining AZ in July 2024.

Parrott spent the prior season on loan at Excelsior Rotterdam, where he scored 16 goals in 28 league games. His impressive form included a brace against Portugal and a hat-trick against Hungary, making him the first Irish player to achieve such feats since Robbie Keane in 2014. Parrott, capped 37 times, will be crucial for Heimir Hallgrimsson's Republic of Ireland squad in the upcoming Nations League.

Real Betis, who finished fifth in La Liga in the 2025-26 season, secured Parrott as they prepare for Champions League competition.
