Savinho's £75m Transfer and CFG's Multi-Club Model

The £75m sale of Savinho to Tottenham represents a record for Manchester City and a milestone for the City Football Group (CFG). The Brazilian joined CFG-owned Troyes from Atletico Mineiro in 2022 but never played for the French club, instead going on loan to PSV and then fellow CFG club Girona.

At Girona, Savinho starred as the club secured Champions League qualification for the first time, registering nine goals and eight assists in 37 league matches. City signed him for £30.8m in 2024. After two seasons at City, where he scored twice and contributed 12 assists, Tottenham agreed a fee of £75m plus £10m in add-ons.

CFG's managing director of global football described Savinho as a fantastic asset, noting the group's aim of getting players to the pinnacle at City. Girona's director of football said City decided between keeping Savinho at Girona for Champions League football or bringing him into their first-team squad. The sale generates almost £70m profit if all bonuses are met.

City have recouped more than £250m from selling young players over the past five years, with academy graduates moving to rival Premier League sides.
