Viewed as a joke figure by many this time last year, former Carlisle boss Steven Pressley continues his redemption arc with another derby victory. His endearing personality and proven coaching experience at Brentford have clearly translated to success in Dundee.

Pressley’s contacts have helped the club secure valuable loans, including versatile Drey Wright, who scored the opening goal, and Alan Forrest, picked up after being discarded by Hearts. The squad also features odds and ends from Scottish football, like Arbroath midfielder Ryan Flynn, Charlie Reilly, Joe Bevan, and second goalscorer Owen Bevan. Centre-back Ryan Astley formed a solid partnership during challenging periods in an impressive derby win.

"Sometimes winning away from home is being comfortable with the uncomfortable and we did that at times," Pressley said. "It was no tactical detail that won us the game today, it was a group of players that were determined not to lose that derby and I couldn’t be prouder of them." Arbroath midfielder Ryan Flynn told BBC Scotland that his former boss is a master at instilling confidence. With continued success, Dundee’s head coach has transformed past skepticism into genuine respect.
