The International Olympic Committee (IOC) will not investigate FIFA president Gianni Infantino concerning allegations of breaching political neutrality rules in his dealings with U.S. President Donald Trump. Human rights group Fair Square had filed a complaint with the IOC, citing FIFA's decision to defer a World Cup suspension for U.S. player Folarin Balogun after Trump personally asked Infantino to review the red card.

A spokesperson for the IOC stated that its ethics commission concluded it lacked jurisdiction because the complaint focused on FIFA's internal governance and decisions. The IOC code of ethics is limited to relations with the IOC itself, and FIFA's actions regarding its own rules and management fall outside this scope. Fair Square was informed of this decision.

Fair Square had previously lodged a separate complaint with FIFA's ethics committee in December, detailing four instances of Infantino allegedly supporting Trump's actions and policies. This complaint also questioned Infantino's role in creating and awarding a FIFA Peace Prize to Trump. FIFA's disciplinary committee suspended Balogun's ban on July 5, with Trump revealing his lobbying the next day. Infantino maintained FIFA committees acted independently, though no specific explanation for the deferral has been provided.
