Norwegian Football Federation president Lise Klaveness said she will ask her board to file a formal ethics complaint over the suspension of Folarin Balogun’s World Cup ban. In an interview with The Times, she urged FIFA president Gianni Infantino to admit it was an "error" to suspend the ban, claiming external pressure influenced the decision.

The United States striker was sent off against Bosnia‑Herzegovina but was cleared to play in the World Cup round‑of‑16 win over Belgium after FIFA’s disciplinary committee suspended his automatic one‑match ban. The decision followed a phone call between U.S. President Donald Trump and Infantino, with Trump later praising FIFA’s action.

Klaveness also questioned why the controversial case was decided by a single committee member, FIFA disciplinary chair Mohammad Al Kamali. She warned that allowing state leaders to influence football would erode the sport’s integrity and noted that the NFF already filed a complaint about the FIFA Peace Prize awarded to Trump.

The federation plans to bring the issue to a board meeting, seeking an ethical review and hoping the case will encourage transparency in future disputes.
