Lucas Carneiro kicked a 48-yard field goal as time expired to give ninth-ranked Mississippi a 41-38 victory over No. 24 Louisville on Sunday night in the Music City Kickoff. The game started sloppy but turned into a second-half thriller. Lincoln Kienholz tied it for Louisville at 38 with 1:28 left with a 7-yard touchdown run.

Lawayne McCoy caught a 54-yard touchdown pass earlier. Trinidad Chambliss set up the winning field goal with an 18-yard pass on third-and-6, finishing with 351 yards passing and three touchdowns. Kewan Lacy ran for a 1-yard touchdown before being sidelined by an injured thigh.

Both teams struggled in the first half, with missed snaps and turnovers. Chambliss, playing thanks to a Mississippi Supreme Court ruling, threw two 62-yard touchdown passes to Stanquan Alexander in the third quarter and added a 35-yard touchdown to Caleb Odom in the fourth. A 5-yard TD run by Chambliss gave Ole Miss its biggest lead with 6:43 remaining.
