Chelsea legend Bobby Tambling has died at the age of 84. The former club record goalscorer amassed 202 goals from 370 appearances between 1959 and 1970. Tambling made his debut as a 17-year-old and helped Chelsea secure the League Cup in 1965, scoring against Leicester in the final. His goal-scoring prowess made him one of the club's most revered figures during his playing days.

Despite his Chelsea achievements, Tambling's FA Cup final heartbreak came in 1967 when his side lost to Tottenham. His record stood for decades until Frank Lampard surpassed it in 2013. After leaving Chelsea, Tambling won three England caps before finishing his career in Ireland, managing Cork Celtic, Cork City, and Crosshaven where he had a lasting impact on local football.

In recent years, Tambling had been living with dementia. A statement from Crosshaven described him as "a true Chelsea legend and an even more wonderful human being." The tribute highlighted his warmth, wisdom, humor, and love, noting his quiet pride when seeing his 'Tambling 202' banner at Stamford Bridge. The club has lost one of its most iconic figures, a player whose legacy extends far beyond his statistical achievements.
