On Tuesday, Bristol City Women named former WSL and FA executive Hannah Buckley as chief executive officer, replacing Lowri Roberts who served as interim chief after the club’s takeover by Mercury13. Buckley will take the helm in June to prepare for the 2026‑27 campaign, to drive growth, strengthen fan engagement, and build a winning culture.

Board director and Mercury13 co‑founder Mario Malave praised Buckley’s “strategic vision, operational excellence and deep knowledge of the women’s game.” He said the club is “building for long‑term success” and that her leadership will shape a side ready to compete at the highest level for years. Her experience spans top‑tier leagues across England in 2024.

Buckley brings a background that includes senior roles with the Women’s Super League and the Football Association, positioning her to navigate the evolving commercial landscape of women’s football. Her arrival follows a season where Bristol City finished fourth in WSL 2, just seven points shy of the top two under first‑year manager Charlotte Healy for 2025.

With Buckley steering the club’s strategic agenda, Bristol City aims to translate its recent competitive momentum into sustained success. The appointment signals a commitment to professionalise operations, attract higher‑level talent, and elevate the club’s profile on the national stage. Fans can now look forward to a more ambitious, well‑managed side in the coming seasons ahead.
