Sacha Lewis, sister of Manchester City's Rico Lewis, has signed her first professional contract with the Women's Super League club. The 18-year-old defender, who joined City at under-14 level, progressed through the academy and was part of the matchday squads twice last season as the club secured their first WSL title in ten years. Lewis, an England Under-19 international, is yet to make her senior debut for the club.

"It's amazing. A lot of hard work was put in and it's such a great achievement. I'm proud," said Lewis. "It means so much, it means even more because I support City. Being here in the academy, not many people get this opportunity so I'm very grateful." City's director of football, Therese Sjogran, praised Lewis as "a shining example to her team-mates despite still being just 18."

Rico Lewis, three years Sacha's senior, made his senior debut for the men's team in 2022 and has represented England five times. Manchester City Women will begin their WSL title defence at home against Birmingham City on 6 September.
