England midfielder Laura Blindkilde Brown has silenced doubters at Manchester City, starting 16 of 19 Women's Super League matches this season. The 22-year-old revealed manager Andree Jeglertz had contemplated sending her on loan initially, but injuries gave her the chance to prove herself. City now leads the WSL by nine points, closing in on their first league title in a decade.

Blindkilde Brown joined City for £200,000 from Aston Villa in 2024, where she made 58 appearances as a teenager. Despite being predominantly an attacking midfielder, she has developed her defensive capabilities under Jeglertz. Her versatility and consistent performances have been crucial to City's dominant season in the league.

The young midfielder has made four appearances for England and faces tough competition in Sarina Wiegman's squad. With injuries in the squad, she could force her way into the team for Tuesday's World Cup qualifier against Spain at Wembley. Blindkilde Brown believes her development at City has prepared her for this opportunity, stating: "How I play at City is why I get picked for being here."
