Pfannenstiel, 52, has a global football career but this is his first role in the UK. He noted that in many countries, directors regularly visit the changing room, calling criticism of his presence "pure ignorance." His comments come as Aberdeen search for a new permanent manager, a process he is leading. The club currently struggles in the Scottish Premiership.

Whether he remains in the dugout once a new manager is appointed is uncertain. Pfannenstiel said it depends on the new boss's preference, though he normally prefers the stands for a broader view.
