NBA Playoff Hopes & Injury Updates
The San Antonio Spurs clinched their first postseason berth in six seasons after rookie phenom Victor Wembanyama nailed a go-ahead 17-foot fadeaway jumper with just 1.1 seconds remaining in Thursday night's contest. Contrasting fortunes unfolded elsewhere as the Nets announced that forward Michael Porter Jr. faces a minimum two-to-three-week absence due to a strained left hamstring, potentially sidelining their leading scorer for the remainder of the regular schedule. Meanwhile, Eastern Conference contender Cleveland lost star guard Donovan Mitchell, who sat out the team's 115-110 victory over the Chicago Bulls nursing a bruised left eye.
League Milestones & Ceremonies
The night also featured significant personal achievements and tributes across the league circuit. LeBron James equaled Robert Parish’s long-standing NBA record by appearing in his 1,611th career game, an accomplishment Parish publicly acknowledged, stating James is "deserving" of surpassing the mark. Separately, the Charlotte Hornets honored franchise legend Dell Curry, retiring his No. 30 jersey during halftime ceremonies of their matchup against the Orlando Magic, moving the former sharpshooter to tears during the presentation.
